Fen Guo, PhD, FACMG, FCCMG

Dr. Fen Guo is board-certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and in Molecular Genetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG). She also holds a Laboratory Director Certificate of Qualification in Genetic Testing and Oncology from the New York State Department of Health.

Currently, Dr. Guo serves as the Associate Director at the UPMC Clinical Genomics Lab (UCGL) and High-Throughput Genomics Core (HTGC) for Clinical and Translational Medicine, with a joint appointment as Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining UPMC, she was the Clinical Reporting Director at PerkinElmer Genomics (PKIG), where she oversaw clinical production and research and development (R&D) for the NGS section.

Dr. Guo has extensive expertise in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics, with a proven track record of delivering precise and timely clinical diagnoses through genome and exome sequencing. Her skills encompass clinical assay design, development, validation, and implementation, as well as technical troubleshooting, laboratory workflow optimization, and automation strategy planning and execution. Dr. Guo is committed to driving positive outcomes in the workplace, proactively addressing challenges, and identifying opportunities to enhance patient care.

Dr. Guo’s research focuses on leveraging multi-omics approaches—including genomics, epigenomics, and proteomics—to investigate rare genetic diseases and uncover their underlying causes.
